Why the future of work project

Continuous Work Transformation

The nature of work is changing—rapidly and constantly. Leaders face critical questions:

  • How is work evolving? What decisions are being made about the work itself and how it will be done over time?
  • Who’s part of the conversation? Which stakeholders are involved, and how often are these discussions taking place?
  • Is the right information driving key decisions? Are leaders equipped with timely, accurate, and aligned insights that inspire confidence? Or is fragmented data creating confusion?

Beyond decision-making, do organizations have the systems and governance to ensure these decisions translate into meaningful and consistent actions?

On the flip side, workers face their own set of challenges:

  • How will disruptions impact their livelihoods? Are they prepared for the effects of AI, automation, globalization, and other forces?
  • What steps are they taking to adapt? Are they actively preparing, or are they uncertain about how to navigate ongoing disruptions?
  • How are they feeling? What emotions and behaviors are emerging as they confront these shifts?

No one has all the answers. What’s certain is that success in the future will require constant learning, adaptability, and collaboration. Together, we can chart a path forward.

The Future of Work Project provides leading practices, emerging ideas, and actionable insights into how leaders, managers, and workers -- and those enabling them -- can better respond to the needs of today without sacrificing the capabilities of tomorrow.

"The Future of Work Project is addressing needs that are pressing now.  We've long needed to step out of our silos and take a more systemic approach to leadership, decision-making, and ongoing organizational change.  I've already found the ideas and frameworks super valuable."
